'The Music Man'

My family and I were invited to watch a local high school production of 'The Music Man'. It was a wonderful production that everyone enjoyed. The singing, dancing and overall spirit of the show was one that kept us captivated through out!

I had photographed the show with my Canon 1D Mark III and offered the shots to the parents since flash photography was not allowed. The Mark III excels at low light photography. I shot on manual with an aperture of f4 most of the evening with my ISO about 1250 if memory serves me correctly. I did a little post processing using Apple's Aperture program to bring out the colors and also did a little exposure correction.

I had my white balance set to tungsten and in post processing felt that the camera's setting was pleasing to my eye so I left it 'as is'.

Camera used: Canon 1D Mark III with 70-200 f2.8 IS, f/4 @ 400 (varied depending on lighting), ISO 1250

  1. How did you get such nice shots? Did you use a flash? It doesn't look like it but I can be wrong.

  2. Wow... I remember when my school did music man. I loved being in it. I love the shots alot. And I dont beleive you did use flash, right? Most theatrical preformances dont like there to be any out in the audience. And there is a slight blur in the shots, so that helps me assume a bit more.

  3. You are correct in that I didn't use flash. I was very surprised that everyone in the audience complied with the request from the school!

I believe the blur maybe from the downsizing for the web pic. The originals are much sharper.

    Thanks for stopping by.
