There are times that I want/need to change things up a bit but don't have a particular subject/idea. Earlier this year I was in our back yard and noticed our neighbors had an interesting plant at the end of its season. I pulled the camera out and took a few shots that I really liked. I've since found a plethora of surprising 'tidbits' in our yard I hadn't seen because I hadn't been looking. I will post those 'tidbits' later!
We need to look past what we are used to photographing, such as during a wedding, so we don't get stuck in our shooting patterns. This will help us grow as photographers and definitely give our customers a higher degree of satisfaction.
In our off time we need to continue challenging ourselves to keep our creative juices flowing and shoot 'out of our box'. My next personal challenge is to photograph some of our local emergency personnel such as police officers and firemen. I have a few ideas up my sleeve but nothing set in stone as of yet. I am not intending to photograph them in a 'studio session' way but more artistically than the normal 'head and shoulders' shot. Oh, and possibly sell a few 8x10's!
Camera used: Canon 10D with 24-105, f4 @ 1/2,000, ISO 100

I really like this photo. I have been trying to do more shots of things around my house and at first it was just the same old stuff, pics of flowers and cars. After a bit I started realizing different angles then I started to esperiment more and found a lot of interesting things to shoot and the interest level of my photographs grew.
